The Elijahs of God
I Found the God of Elijah, but I Am Looking
For the Elijahs of God
Text: II Kings 2:14
Elisha, the successor of Elijah asked, “Where is the God of Elijah?” Even though Elisha picked up Elijah’s mantel and received a double portion of his anointing, the God of Elijah had to become the God of Elisha for him to attain all the things God had in store for him. Elijah was a powerful prophet who was one of a handful of prophets that Jesus referred back to in the scriptures. wEl He was at the transfiguration. Elijah came at a time when the world was very anti-God. Elijah stood up to a wicked king. Elijah obeyed God in spite of danger. God took care of Him and provided for his every need. Elijah had great faith and believed rain and fire would come from God when he prayed. He had great faith to believe the dead would be raised. When Elijah was weak and in a cave by himself, God’s strength was made perfect in his weakness. God came to the cave and called him. Elijah was told that he was going to be given someone to assist him in his work, somebody to mentor and train. God gave him Elisha. The things Elijah had gone through weren’t just about him. He had the ability to train Elisha to pick up and continue on. There is no success without a successor. What we have needs to be invested in other people. Where is our faith? Do we believe God can send whatever we need when we pray? Do we believe the dead can be raised? Where are the Elijahs of God today who are willing to stand against evil, and know God will protect and defend? After we find the God of Elijah we need to grow strong in the Lord and become Elijahs of God.
